In the latest financial plan, we made the right choices for Britain, reducing energy expenses with £150 off bills, safeguarding the health service and combating the problem of impoverished children by removing the two-child limit. Measures were also taken that the income generated through taxes was done justly, with everyone contributing but those with the greatest capacity bearing an appropriate burden.

As a result of the choices we made, the budget established a firmer financial footing, driving down inflation and sovereign debt returns. This is essential for securing our public services, when one pound in every ten expended by government goes on loan repayments.

Expanding Economic Measures

The plan reinforces the action we have already taken to enhance economic performance: directing £120bn toward new investments in such things as highways, railways and utilities; introducing significant overhaul measures in a generation to back builders, not blockers; promoting the development of Heathrow and Gatwick; and establishing trading partnerships with the EU, India and the US.

In combination, these have allowed us to surpass our economic projections.

Renewing Our Nation

As I set out at the party conference, the government’s purpose is exactly the renewal of our economy, our communities and our state. Through this approach, we will halt deterioration and reestablish confidence in our country.

We will challenge those on the political extremes who only offer dissatisfaction and whose approach would lead to further decline. Allow me to state unequivocally, turning on the borrowing taps or reimposing spending cuts – that is the approach of deterioration and I will not accept it.

A Comprehensive Growth Mission

In a speech on Monday, I will place the budget in context within the broader commercial rejuvenation on which the government will be judged at the end of this parliament.

To accomplish the national renewal we seek, we must do more to encourage growth, to address idleness among young people and to aim for stronger worldwide collaboration with our trading partners.

Our growth mission will include a renewed focus on removing superfluous red tape. Often it has been those on the left who have favored regulation, but there is nothing progressive in regulations which merely act to raise the cost of living for the poorest, to slow down economic growth unnecessarily, or prevent a Labour government achieving its aims.

Hence the rationale I am asking the business secretary to tackle the type of excessive additions and superfluous bureaucracy that raise expenditures and get in the way of our industrial strategy.

Welfare State Modernization

Economic renewal also demands that we must continue to overhaul social security. We took over an ineffective structure that left children too poor to eat and which wrote off young people as too sick to work.

We should not endorse either part of that failing Tory system. This explains we will do more to support adolescents in reaching their abilities.

Because if you are ignored in your early career, if you are refused the help you need to address psychological challenges, or if you are simply written off because you are experiencing cognitive variations or handicaps, then it can imprison you in a loop of unemployment and reliance for decades.

This costs the country money, is harmful to our efficiency, but far more significantly, it eliminates prospects and ignores potential. Any progressive administration worthy of the name cannot ignore that.

This is the reason we have tasked a previous healthcare official to make actionable suggestions to help young people with health conditions access work, training or education – guaranteeing they receive assistance to prosper rather than marginalized.

Worldwide Business Development

Finally, we have to do more to help our businesses engage in worldwide exchange. No believable commercial perspective for Britain that does not establish us as a accessible, commercial nation.

We have to address the reality that the poorly executed departure agreement significantly hurt our economy. You do not need to have a PhD in economics to know that erecting unnecessary trade barriers with your biggest trading partner will hurt growth and raise the cost of living.

So one element of our economic renewal will be maintaining progress in the direction of a stronger commercial partnership with the EU. Should we obtain less expensive nourishment, enhance expansion and generate employment by having a closer relationship with the EU, we should.

A Substantial Strategy for Significant Challenges

An economic package built on just selections for Britain must be supported by resolve to achieve the economic renewal that the country needs.
