Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
