President Trump Invites Relatives of Injured Guard Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the presidential home.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Devastating Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Call

The president said he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed journalists. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Community members assembled over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to help others.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Policy Revisions

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the administration to suspend asylum applications and cease providing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed a news show that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with honor, per the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” he informed the gathering at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
