The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”
The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
